Volunteering at Deer Hollow Farm

Deer Hollow Farm is supported by a community of 100+ volunteers.

To volunteer, individuals must be 14 years or older, complete an application, and clear a background check. Please see the list below for different volunteer opportunities at Deer Hollow Farm.

Volunteer Opportunities at Deer Hollow Farm

  • Volunteer on the Farm (Currently Full)

    Help with livestock chores, including feeding, barn cleaning, and milking. Volunteers must commit to one session per week, year-round. Chores typically take 1 to 4 hours to complete. Morning duties at 8am involve feeding and cleaning pens, with opportunities for goat or cow milking. Afternoon tasks at 3pm include feeding and securing livestock in the barns for the night.

  • Farm Docents

    Depending on your interests, you can lead small groups of elementary school children around the historic homestead, explore the surrounding wilderness preserve, or delve into local history in a replica Ohlone Village.

    Classes take place on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings during the school year. Volunteers are asked to commit to three classes each month from October to May. Training and curriculum materials will be provided.

    This opportunity is open to adult volunteers only.

  • Summer Camp Interns

    Interns support counselors in leading activities for youth ages 6 to 14 at the farm and in the wilderness. Applicants must be at least 14 years old.

    Applications for Summer 2025 will open in March 2025.
