Visitor Information

Deer Hollow Farm is a free community resource for all to enjoy. The farm is located in the Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserve, nestled in the foothills of Los Altos. Google Maps Link here

Visitors are welcome to embark on a self-guided tour to explore the farm's history. You can also enjoy friendly farm animals, as well as a garden and orchard supported by volunteers, during regular farm hours. Please be aware that buildings and animal pens are not accessible to the public. Additionally, you can wander 25 miles of trails in the adjacent Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserve.

Picnic tables and restrooms are available at the north end of the farm. Please take all your trash with you, as there are no garbage cans on the premises. Groups of 20 or more will need a permit, which can be requested through this link.

When preparing to visit, please bring plenty of water, pack food as there is no food for purchase and wear sturdy shoes. Strollers are welcome. Dress for the weather and note that cell phone coverage can be spotty and there is no Wi-Fi. Please stay on trails, be aware of poison oak, ticks and rattlesnakes. Look out for awesome wildlife viewing opportunities.

Farm Hours

The opening hours of the farm are listed below. It may take up to an hour for volunteers to feed and release animals from their pens. Please arrive after 9am if you would like to be sure to see all the animals out of their pens.

Monday: Closed
Tuesday: 8am to 4pm
Wednesday: 8am to 1pm (early close)
Thursday-Sunday: 8am to 4pm

Please note, the Farm may be closed to the general public during special events (Spring Farm Tours, Spooky Times, and the Farm's Volunteer Recognition Event).

Farm Address

The address of the parking lot to access the farm is 22500 Cristo Rey Drive, Cupertino, 95014. Car parking is available in five different lots after accessing the park. Parking is free. It is a 1-mile walk/cycle from parking to the barnyard.

Directions

  1. The farm is located in the Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserve, nestled in the foothills of Los Altos. Google Maps Link here

  2. Exit 280 at Foothill Expressway/Grant Road.

  3. Follow the signs to Rancho San Antonio County Park.

  4. Turn right onto Cristo Rey Drive, within a ¼-mile from the 280 off-ramp.

  5. Follow Cristo Rey Drive for approximately 1-mile to the roundabout circle. Take the second roundabout exit to continue on Cristo Rey Drive.

  6. Turn left into the entrance of Rancho San Antonio County Park.

  7. Park at any of the five parking lots. Deer Hollow Farm is a leisurely 1-mile walk into the Preserve.

 

The Farm Animals

The farm animals at Deer Hollow Farm are an essential part of our environmental education programs. The cost to acquire, care and feed our animals is ~$125/day or $45,000/year. Donations and grants to Friends of Deer Hollow Farm provide 100% of this funding and are tax deductible. There is no other entity responsible for funding the animals at Deer Hollow Farm. Since its inception in 1994, Friends of Deer Hollow Farm has provided ~$450,000 in support of the Animal Fund at Deer Hollow Farm. The farm staff at Deer Hollow Farm is funded by the City of Mountain View, Community Services Department, Recreation Division and rely on a very dedicated group of livestock volunteers.
